Coaching...For a Change: Trial and Error

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” -Thomas A. Edison

Thomas Edison was a renowned businessman and inventor, who is most notably known for his contribution to industrialization. Pretty significant! That level of achievement, however,

requires a lot of patience for failure and a willingness to experiment. It often requires what I like to call, a trial and error mindset.

A journey towards change, transformation, and goal achievement often requires us to do things we've seldom or never done before. And because we are so unique as individuals, what works for one person may not work for another. As such, we must be willing to experiment to find what works best for us individually. More important, however, we must also be patient with the inevitable failures that come with trying new things.

Working with a coach can help you design your own experiment and after your trial, explore what did and did not work; with an emphasis on what worked. It's a nice iterative process where you're able to push boundaries, learn, and grow. The goal here is to help you endure the 10,000 ways that won’t work, so you can eventually find the one or more ways that do work. There's nothing wrong with trying and failing...so why not try coaching...for a change.
