Many years ago, a former employer promoted me from my Project Team Specialist role, to an Associate. To celebrate my, and other promotions, my employer coordinated a day at the Washington Nationals Baseball Park where employees had the opportunity to spend the day with children from area schools; as a sort of mentor.

Upon sign-in to this day-long event, each employee had to write what they wanted to be when they were younger on their nametag. Not a single nametag had the words ‘Consultant’ or ‘Accountant’ on it.

My colleagues and I noted how disheartening it was; being surrounded by a sea of unfulfilled dreams. However, I ended that day inspired. And although my professional journey took turns in many different directions, my professional objective, goal, and dream has always stayed the same: I want to help people do and be their best, and ultimately move our workforce to a point where more people are making a living doing what they love.
